An 1880 history of Elizabethtown notes:
One of the largest of the log dwelling-houses was upon the ground now occupied by the buildings of E. Hoffman and James Lynch. Another stood where John Breneman's residence now is, and the others of most consequence of which the localities can be identified were where the residences of Mrs. Wieland, Mrs. Julia Wade, and George F. Wagner now are, while there was another on the lot west of the "Black Horse" tavern, and altogether probably more than a score.
