Town 25 km north of Calamocha on the Rio Jiloca. Muslim in the Cid's time, it was reconquered by Alfonso the Battler in 1142.

The town is set in a valley between two mountains, and completely enclosed by 4 km of medieval walls. The main visible monuments date from the 13th to 17th Centuries.
