Modern Name: Castilla.

The Spanish kingdom which came to dominate all others. King Don Ferrando succeeded to the states of Castille after the death of his father in 1072. He was succeeded by his son, King Don Sancho, who in turn was overthrown by his brother, King Don Afonso.

The modern autonomous community of Castilla y Leon has its capital at Valladolid. Area 94,147 square kilometers. Estimated population in AD 1100, 770 thousand and population density 8.2 per square km.
